PRISM (People for the Rights of Individuals of Sexual Minorities) is Mary Washington’s Gay-Straight Alliance. Serving the GLBTTQQIAAP (Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Trangender, Transexual, Queer, Questioning, Intersex, Asexual, Ally, and Pansexual) community of UMW, PRISM strives to create a comfortable, fun, and educational environment. Anyone is welcome and encouraged to join. All we ask is that you are open-minded and accepting.

Our faculty advisor is Gary Richards from the English, Linguistics, and Communication department.

We also work closely with the James Farmer Multicultural Center in Lee Hall room 211 and Gender Neutral Housing.

Our Mission

~ Serve as a bridge between the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, and Straight communities of the University of Mary Washington.

~ Provide a constructive forum where members of the communities express themselves without binding claim to sexual or affectation orientation.

~ Work together in order to increase understanding and acceptance of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender individuals in society.

Use the navigation bar at the top of the page to explore and learn about PRISM at Mary Washington.
